EMPLOYEE SPOTLIGHT

Sam (left) and Nathan (right)

These two guys work as electricians for us.

Nathan has been with us for 4 years now and prides himself on doing a job just once – and doing it right the first time. So we asked Nathan:

I get great experience and exposure to a range of things so I am always learning, always getting more experience and the people are awesome to work with. Every time we do something to keep the farm operating we always get thanked and appreciated by the managers and staff.
I would like to think they would say I am a good guy, reliable and always there for them if need me. But they would never be so kind!

Sam who has just passed his apprenticeship was asked:

Yeah, I enjoy the responsibility they give me, I always trying my hardest. We all work together very well and I have a great opportunity here so I want to give 100%. I am so happy to have finished my course, but the lessons keep coming.
I have some great people I work with and I appreciate learning from them, being part of the team and being able to find solutions to complex problems – there is no one person, as it varies there are some great people who have assisted me and I am just grateful to everyone.
I think he caught his own reflection and got lost in the moment. Nah we were just playing up for the camera, we were surprised that we got asked to be it, it was just a bit of fun

OUR HISTORY

Marland Mushrooms was established in 1947 in post war Australia where opportunity presented itself to Eric Marland who just wanted to have a go and provide for his family. Over 70 years later, the humble mushroom farm has evolved into a state of the art, highly technologically advanced, and world class growing facility. Employing a range of talented people from diverse backgrounds, our culturally rich company employs people with a range of attractive benefits and provides career pathways for many.

For over 70 years Marland Mushrooms have been evolving their farms through the use of highly advanced technology, proven work practices, and world leading farm infrastructure. The main site at Stapylton in South East Queensland is testimony to the heavy investment in ensuring premium quality of produce and creating significant employment opportunities for the local community.

The Staplyton site in Southeast Queensland grows Agaricus Bisporus or what is commonly called white mushrooms and they are available through the major grocery retailers across Australia. These mushrooms are used in most kitchens and eaten by millions every week. In fact, mushrooms make up a massive 18% of fresh grocery produce consumption in Australia – so who knows, you have probably enjoyed our quality products at some time and not even known it.

“We have a significant responsibility to ensure that my grandfather’s legacy lives on, and that our family values hold strong for the entire team that work with us bring the best quality mushrooms to Australian dinner tables”.
